La Virgen del Pino (Virgin of the Pine) is one of the Marian invocations that represent the Virgin Maria. Her origin is located in the Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pino, in a small old mountain village called Teror, on the island of Gran Canaria, Canary Islands. The myth and moment of the apparition of the Virgen del Pino has always been shrouded in mystery. The most validated theory, is that the called Pino de las Maravillas, a majestic pine tree of the top of the island, was chosen for the appearance of the Virgen del Pino, and thanks to her invocation they also discovered a special morning fountain, from which gushed medicinal water, surrounded by three unique dragon trees called Draco Palma, also a unique tree species from the Canary Islands.
