A Miko (巫女), also called Shrine maiden, is a young priestess who lives at a Shinto shrine, a place of worship of the Shinto Gods. They are a kind of shamans, but are seen in modern Japanese culture to be an institutionalized role in daily life, trained to perform tasks, ranging from sacred cleansing to performing the sacred Kagura dance (a Shinto ritual ceremonial dance).
The name Miko has several meanings but the most representative concept is “somebody who is like God“, a special human who is deep connected to the Gods. The name is present in various cultures and today continues to exist with the variation Michael.
Between the priestesses twins, we find a Twin Flower (Linnaea borealis). When we find patches of twinflowers, it is a sign of ancient or long-established woodland. Twins have a strong connection and until today it has not been possible to demonstrate the logical reason for this special energetic link between them.
