There are tribes of female Nomadas in the desert who travel on their camels for days to seek oases with water. It is a duty for survival in these dry lands but it is also an activity that has become a historical ritual. The older generation passes its wisdom on how to find an oasis to the younger generations. They are guided on their way purely by nature, such as an aspect of a dune, a particular wind direction, and the positioning of the sun and moon. They travel calmly, sometimes by camel, sometimes on foot, saving and spending their physical and mental forces with ancestral intelligence. As drawn in the illustration, traveling at night is often more productive for them as the temperature cools down. When the desired oasis or desert well appears, which is usually connected to the thousands of ancient underground rivers that are still alive underneath the earth, they refresh their sunburnt faces with the sacred water and look gratefully to the sky full of light and empty of clouds.
