Since ancient times, the Llama being native to North America, specially Peru, is the first domesticated animal humans used as pack animals. The females of this species are in charge of the herd and keep them in line. They are very social caring for each other and also for their human owners.
In Incan history, Llamas and Alpacas were around to watch the end of the Ice Age linking them to important symbolism of the past. They also serve as an emblem of knowledge, both ancient and arcane. Nowadays you can see llamas dressed in colorful accessories walking through the Andean towns in Peru and Bolivia. This is a longstanding cultural tradition symbolizing the reverence, respect and power of this special animals being deeply connected to the history of indigenous cultures of South America.
