Nefertiti one of the most important female pharaohs in the history of ancient Egypt, is best known for her painted sandstone bust from which this illustration is inspired. It was rediscovered in 1913 and became a global icon of feminine beauty and power. Nefertiti and her husband Ramses II were known for a religious revolution, in which they worshipped solely the sun disc, Aten, as the only god. Her reign was a time of tremendous cultural upheaval. Queen Nefertitiwas renowned for her beauty and prominence and was called “the one for whom the sun shines”.
In addition, I drew the flower Strelitzia, also called “the bird of paradise”, because it’s seen as a symbol of freedom. It also represents immortality which is a concept that represents this powerful woman who changed her times and country. Also the bright orange and yellow color of the Strelitzia flower connect it in some way with the sun, just like the solar god Aten chosen by Nefertiti as her religion.
This illustration combines beautifully with other Egyptian Sculptures inspired artwork like the Nile Queen Limited Edition Print.
