The Mochica or Moche civilization, is an ancient Andean tribe located in Peru on the northern pacific coast. The origin of the name is taken from the great site of Moche and its river valley with the same name. Moche was also the capital or most important city of the Mochica civilization. The Mochica religion is polytheistic based following several gods. This unique tribe is particularly valued for their special elaborated pottery. Moche potters created thousands of ceramics for domestic ritual use. Certain ceramics are directly connected to sacred religious ceremonies. The art represents a wide range of subjects, from humans, animals, mythic figures, and plants.

In this drawn pottery, the beauty and powerful colors of the Toucan empower us to confidently step up and out into the world as our grandest, truest self.
This illustration is part of the Mochica Limited Edition Prints Collection. It combines beautifully with the other drawings of the collection you can find here.
