This island is a pure wild refuge of the Atlantic Ocean belonging to the Canary Islands. It is located a few kilometers from the sandy island Fuerteventura. Its curious name, Island of the Wolfes, is due to the fact that in the past seals (also known as sea lions) lived on the island, now in danger of extinction. The fishermen eliminated the species, because they thought that its voracity reduced the marine resources of the area. The center of the island and highest point is the volcanic cone of “La Caldera” (127 m). Towards the southeast there is a basal platform covered with hills, depressions and rocky blocks. To the north, the raised beaches with Jadian marine deposits stand out. Between the islet and Fuerteventura there are seabeds (around 5-15 m) covered by sand, unique volcanic black and white desertic beaches hard to find anywhere else on earth. Isla de Lobos is a journey to silence and untouched nature. Many explorers have passed through it but it maintains its magical essence and its special energy is felt just by stepping on its solid island ground. Viewed from the sea, it has the perfect island shape normally only seen in artistic idealizations.
