La Graciosa is a small island paradise forming part of the Canary Islands, but at the same time being the largest marine protected area in Europe due to its great variety and richness of ocean life. It is one of the few places left in Europe without paved roads. In this place, only natural sand is allowed, so you can comfortably walk barefoot throughout the island. The name of the island La Graciosa means The Graceful for its variety of colors of the volcanic rocks and the constant changes of beautiful light due to the rapid passage of the clouds above it. The Graciosa hat, drawn in the illustration, is the traditional symbol of the island. It is made out of palm threads and with a special shape that perfectly protects the face from the strong african sun on the islands. She wears her hat sitting among cacti, carring her freshly harvested prickly pears (typical cactus fruit of the island), observing one of the impressive new moon nights that can be experienced on the island of La Graciosa.
If you want to combine this illustration with another Canary Islands inspired artwork, have a look at Yaiza at the cactus field.
